A closer look.

The project comprised the controlled demolition of an existing public house to facilitate associated road and junction improvement works.

Prior to demolition, extensive structural enabling works were undertaken, including underpinning of the retained structure, excavation and temporary support works, diversion and protection of existing underground services, and the installation of structural steelwork using a 250-tonne crane. All steelwork was installed within the footprint of the existing building prior to demolition.

The works also included the construction of a reinforced concrete retaining wall, incorporating foundation preparation, reinforcement and concrete works, followed by full site clearance and reinstatement.

The project required careful sequencing and coordination to safely deliver complex demolition and structural works within a constrained site environment.
