Project overview

A closer look.

The project comprised the extensive redevelopment of a historically significant protected site at Strand Street, Athlone, incorporating the demolition, renovation and extension of existing buildings alongside substantial new-build works.

The development included 28 residential apartments together with the extension and refurbishment of retail and office accommodation. Complex structural works included extensive piling and underpinning of adjacent buildings, while the site’s proximity to the River Shannon required careful management of challenging groundwater conditions.

Located on an area of significant archaeological importance associated with the Siege of Athlone in 1691, the project required careful coordination of modern construction works within a sensitive historic environment.
