Project overview

A closer look.

The project comprised the comprehensive refurbishment and energy upgrade of the ESB Networks Branch Headquarters and operational depot in Athlone, with works undertaken to achieve a B1 Building Energy Rating.

Works included significant upgrades to the building envelope, windows and doors, airtightness, roofing, mechanical and electrical services, heating and ventilation systems, together with structural roof strengthening to accommodate new PV panels. The project also incorporated extensive fire safety and compliance works, security upgrades and the refurbishment of offices, meeting rooms, staff welfare and operational areas.

External works included new concrete plant plinths, security fencing and associated footpath works. The project was carefully phased within an operational depot environment, with temporary staff accommodation provided to facilitate continuity of ESB Networks’ operations throughout the works.
